Make a Found Pet Report

Please use the following form to make a found pet report or contact us at (715) 232-9790.

  • Please complete this report to inform us of a lost pet that you found. Most fields are required to ensure consistency. Any details help us accurately identify pets, so please be specific (especially with location lost and identifiable markings).

Including a picture of the found pet is also extremely important to accurately identify them, should the owner reach out to us. You will have a chance to upload a photo at the end of this form.

If you have found multiple pets, please fill out a report for each of them separately.

  • MM slash DD slash YYYY
  • Drop files here or
Accepted file types: jpg, gif, Max. file size: 20 MB, Max. files: 2.
    • When dealing with a pet you found, safety is always the most important concern. If you don't feel safe, please don't attempt to catch or retain a stray pet.

Please contact applicable authorities if you need help or cannot catch or retain the stray pet. The Dunn County Humane Society does not respond to animals-at-large complaints or retrieve lost pets.

Feel free to contact local law enforcement to let them know you are found a pet in case they are called by the owners. Please call the non-emergency numbers:

      - Menomonie Police Departement (715) 232-1283

      - Dunn County Sheriff Department (715) 232-1348

      - University of WI-Stout Police (715) 232-2222 (on campus just dial 2222)

It is your responsibility to follow the appropriate state and local laws and ordinances regarding stray or lost animals. You cannot simply 'keep' an animal you have found without following the proper legal steps to do so. We advise you to contact an attorney regarding the matter to ensure you do not open yourself up to legal liability should you be interested in keeping an animal you have found.

Please give us a call at (715) 232-9790 (preferred contact method) or email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions.

      Thank you,

      DCHS Staff
