DCHS Baker’s Corner!
To our new bakers – Thank you for your interest in helping with this fun part of our sale! And to our long time bakers – Thank you for your generous donations over the years! We count on your wonderful baked goods as an important part of our rummage sales. The sale is always a great success and usually brings in anywhere from $11,000 to $15,000 for DCHS. Of that amount, around $1500 regularly comes from food/bakery sales alone. Being sold out at the end of the sale is not an unusual occurrence so THANK YOU, your donations make a big difference in our sales numbers—and make our customers happier!
We are often asked what sells best by bakers. Here are a few of our observations: These days, baked goods wrapped individually or in portions of 2 or 3 sell best. Two or 3 cookies on a plate, for example, sell more quickly than 10 or 12 per plate. Why? We don’t know! Customers also appreciate having baked goods labeled (for example “Lemon bars” or “Banana bread”).
- Baked goods should be dropped off on Thursday or before 9:00 on Friday the week of the sale so everything is fresh. If you cannot drop off during these times please let us know and we will work something out.
- If baked items contain nuts or are gluten free they should be labeled so customers know. If you use nuts, please specify which kind are in the items.
- Below is a list of “Bake Sale Favorites”. This is not an exhaustive list though, so don’t let this list limit your creativity!
